What's in a name?  Paceline is a cycling term. Cyclist take advantage of aerodynamic principles by riding in close formation. The draft effect will help to conserve the energy of following cyclists and enable riders to travel more efficiently.  

A cycling team in the Tour de France is composed of 9 members. Team members sacrifice themselves to set the pace for their team leader. A single day of racing can last five hours with as many as 21 stages of competition. A cycling race has no time outs, rest periods, or participant substitutions. The technical strategy and efficiency of the team members and support staff is critical to the success of the team leader.
